(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Winter Park, Florida is turning into a “nightmare” neighborhood after squatters have been allowed to remain in the area.
Justin Mielcarek, a Winter Park resident, revealed to WFTV 9 that the situation is a “nightmare.” He was not the only resident ready to speak out about this issue which has grown in the past few months. According to some reports, squatters even moved into a home in the neighborhood in June. The other residents in the neighborhood, including Mielcarek, noted that they had seen trash cans that were being filled out, the windows were covered, and there was even a car in the home’s driveway. However, the owners of the home are living abroad.
The neighbors proceeded to ask the property manager about the new tenants, but the company informed them that no new tenants were on record. The police were then called to the property, and after raiding the property the alleged squatters escaped by running over fences and even in a pool.
Since then there have been a total of 14 police calls made relating to the house, which reportedly has cars visiting, and even lights in the house. As a result, the police have started more heavily patrolling the area but have not yet made any arrests.
The owner of the residence has also filed a lawsuit to have the people removed from her property, but the neighbors still blame her for the ongoing squatting situation.
Mielcarek stated that the court was taking too long and the police officers were “handcuffed” and not able to do anything.
