(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Wednesday President Biden met with 4-year-old Abigail Edan who had been held hostage in Gaza by Hamas. The young girl had been released in November.

Jake Sullivan, the White House national security adviser, had informed reporters that the meeting was a moment of joy and a reminder for Biden that the work was not done as there were still people who have been held hostage by Hamas since the Oct. 7 attack against Israel. Sullivan stated that this was a moment of joy as the little girl had been able to be returned to her family safely. He added that for President Biden this was a reminder of all the work that still remains to be done until they can secure a hostage and cease-fire deal that would allow everyone to return home.

During the Oct. 7 terrorist attacks, Edan’s parents had been killed. As the little girl has dual Israeli-U.S. citizenship she was the youngest U.S. hostage to have been taken during the attack. She was also part of the November release which had put a temporary pause to the fighting and had allowed for some of the hostages to safely return. The U.S. is still pushing for another pause in the fighting between Hamas and Israel in order to get most of the hostages out and provide more humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Following the Oct. 7 attacks, the Israeli military operations have resulted in thousands of Palestinians losing their lives. Israeli officials have stated that there are over 100 people who were still hostages in Gaza, out of whom around six are U.S. citizens.
