(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Tuesday, Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., told Newsmax that he was sure Attorney General Merrick Garland’s refusal to abide by a House subpoena is a result of him trying to protect President Joe Biden from the allegations of influence peddling he is facing from the House GOP.
House Committee on Oversight and Accountability chair Comer, and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, previously sent a subpoena to Garland instructing him to provide them with access to the audio recordings of the interviews between special counsel Robert Hur, Biden and Mark Zwonitzer, who is Biden’s ghostwriter.
The interview transcripts have already been made available after Hur found in his investigation that Biden had “wilfully” mishandled classified documents that had been distributed. Jordan and Comer however continue to seek access to the audio recordings and other documents relating to the investigation.
As Garland is unwilling to comply with the request made, the House is going to be holding a vote next week trying to hold him in contempt of Congress. Comer told “Rob Schmitt Tonight” that Garland had appointed Hur to protect Biden. He added that this is something he has repeatedly argued in the past as his committee was the first one to point out the inconsistencies in how Biden’s mishandling of classified documents played out and the press reports about it. As he pointed out they had been investigating Trump for possible mishandling of classified documents since before the appointment of Robert Hur.
After Hur had been appointed to the case, they had blocked them from accessing any documents which had put their investigation to an end.
