(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On a recent Monday morning at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., an incident involving a Secret Service agent assigned to Vice President Kamala Harris stirred concerns among fellow agents. This event took place around 9 a.m. on April 22, as reported by the Washington Examiner.
Anthony Guglielmi, the Secret Service Chief of Communications, explained that the agent began to act in a manner that alarmed his colleagues during preparations for the Vice President’s departure from Joint Base Andrews. As a result, the agent was immediately relieved from duty, and medical personnel were promptly called to the scene.
The incident occurred while Vice President Harris was at the Naval Observatory, and it did not affect her scheduled departure from the base. Guglielmi emphasized the commitment of the U.S. Secret Service to the well-being and safety of its staff, stating that the incident was handled as a medical issue. He also noted that further details would not be disclosed due to the private nature of health-related matters.
The Secret Service is responsible for the protection of several key figures in the U.S. government, including the President, the Vice President, and their immediate families, as well as major presidential and vice presidential candidates close to election time. The agency also provides security for visiting foreign dignitaries, former presidents and their spouses, and children of former presidents up to age 16. Additionally, the Secret Service is tasked with safeguarding events designated as National Special Security Events and other individuals as directed by an executive order.
