(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) avoided answering a question about whether or not he believed the Republican National Committee (RNC) should be paying the legal fees of former President Donald Trump in the various legal cases he is facing.

During his appearance on “Face the Nation,” Robert Costa asked Scott whether he believed that the RNC should be covering the legal fees of the former President as Trump’s legal fees continue to climb. Only a couple of days before that interview Trump was ordered by a New York City judge to pay close to $355 million in the New York fraud case. This verdict came only days after a different judge ruled that Trump should be required to pay $83.3 million for having defamed columnist E. Jean Carroll.

Scott dodged the question and instead focused on how voters were not very concerned with the former President’s past. He added that what he could say is that the American people were concerned about the two-tiered justice system and the possible impact it could have on them. He continued by claiming that voters were not focused on Trump’s past but rather on their future.

He continued by saying that the American people were not asking questions regarding the legal challenges, nor discussing them at the kitchen table. In the past few weeks, Trump has had to face back-to-back financial penalties that totaled around $438.1 million.

If Trump managed to become the presumptive Republican Party nominee by mid-March he could benefit from combining the fundraising efforts of his campaign and the RNC which could boost his campaign war chest for the next few months.
