(TruthAndLiberty.com) – In a recent development, former national security adviser John Bolton has publicly advised former President Donald Trump to suspend his presidential campaign due to the impending indictment he is facing regarding the alleged mishandling of confidential records. The information released indicates that Trump will be confronted with a total of 37 federal charges.

Taking to Twitter on Friday, Bolton expressed his concern over the numerous criminal charges against Trump. He emphasized that if Trump genuinely prioritized the welfare of the nation, he should work towards upholding the rule of law rather than disregarding it. Bolton urged Trump to “immediately withdraw” from the 2024 Republican presidential primary in light of the mounting charges against him.

Bolton, who previously served as Trump’s national security adviser for around a year and as the ambassador to the United Nations during George W. Bush’s administration, has been a vocal critic of Trump. He recently characterized Trump as causing significant harm to both the United States and the Republican party.

The indictment against Trump was unsealed on Friday, revealing the specific counts he will be facing. Out of the 37 charges, 31 pertain to the intentional retention of national defense information in violation of the Espionage Act.

Trump has consistently maintained his innocence, vehemently denying any wrongdoing. He has claimed that the investigation into the classified documents retrieved from his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, is politically motivated. Furthermore, he has asserted that all the documents had been declassified prior to his departure from the White House in 2021.
