(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Former President Donald Trump is going to cause problems for the GOP as they head into the border security negotiations with the White House.

Trump, who is leading the Republican presidential primary, is widely believed to be the party’s nominee for 2024 and continues to hold a lot of sway with House Republicans. On Tuesday, he received the endorsement of House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) further solidifying his place.

The border is one of the key issues in Trump’s campaign which is why Republican strategists are so focused on ensuring that whatever deal they make with the White House is going to be welcomed by Trump during the primary race.

Former Senate aide and Republican strategist Brian Darling stated that he does not think that there is a deal that President Biden would agree with, that would also leave Trump happy. He added that the “parties are at loggerheads.” As he pointed out it was going to be very hard for them to reach a deal under the current circumstances without having Trump actively campaigning against the Republicans and Congress members who are a part of the deal being made.

Darling pointed out that it is unlikely that any deal that Congress makes right now is going to be aligned with the things that Trump has been talking about during his campaign trail. Still, the creation of a border deal is not only important for President Biden, but also for Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), especially as the deal could help open up additional aid options for Israel and Ukraine.
