(TruthAndLiberty.com) – GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley has slammed House Republicans over the battle that has ensued to determine the next House Speaker arguing that the infighting within the party was only harming the country.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Jake Tapper, Haley argued that the House GOP needed to “get it together” and unite on who the next Speaker was going to be. These remarks come after Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., forced a vote on a motion to vacate which resulted in House Speaker Kevin McCarthy being ousted from his seat. Following the emptying of the Speakers office, the Republicans have started fighting over who the next House Speaker will be.

On Friday, the Republicans nominated Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, as their candidate, however, the vote has not yet been taken to the floor. Still, it is questionable whether the Republicans will manage to elect Jordan, especially considering that 55 Republicans indicated on a secret ballot that they were not going to be voting in support of Jordan if he was the party’s nominee. As a result, Jordan is unlikely to win the 217 Republican votes that are necessary for him to become the House Speaker.

In the meantime, the Democrats have been trying to get the Republicans to nominate a more moderate Representative or even have a Democrat elected to the top spot in the House.

Haley during her CNN appearance argued that the Republicans would not be able to get the country back on track if they remained divided.
