(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Marcelo Ebrard, the former foreign secretary of Mexico, along with Montserrat Caballero, the Tijuana Mayor installed a segment of the Berlin Wall close to Tijuana and the U.S. border. At the base of the Wall shard, the plaque notes that the wall is meant to act as a lesson for the creation of societies that knock down walls and create bridges.

The U.S. has attempted to expand its border barrier that is currently dividing the United States and Mexico for close to 2,000 miles of territory. However, the U.S. border barrier and the Berlin Wall were not created for the same purpose, as the Berlin Wall was meant to divide a city in two after it was divided by Western forces following the Second World War.

Caballero stated that the wall was being placed in Tijuana as there had been many people who had struggled in order to get beyond the barrier. He added that while the current situation is different from the one in Berlin, at the “end of the day” in both cases there is a wall that is meant to divide.

The Biden administration has had a tough time securing the U.S. border, especially as many migrants have been using the southern border to cross into the U.S. Earlier this year thousands of migrants entered the U.S. illegally through the southern border, and in July the reported migrant encounters were 183,503.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner, Troy Miller in a recent statement noted that they were still making adjustments to the operational plans to “maximize enforcement efforts” against those who are not using the legal pathways.
