(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Tuesday, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton slammed Republicans for defending former President Donald Trump following his federal indictment last week in connection to his alleged mishandling of classified documents.

Clinton, who had been Trump’s opponent in the 2016 presidential election, had lost the presidential election in part because of a recent scandal surrounding her use of a private email server during her time serving as Secretary of State. In a recent appearance on “Pod Save America,” the host asked Clinton to comment on the Republican’s frequent comparison between her email scandal and the classified documents case.

The Republicans had previously attacked Clinton for her email server, however, while she received a lot of criticism, she was never prosecuted. This has now led to some GOP members alleging that there is a double standard determining who gets prosecuted and who doesn’t.

In response, Clinton said that she found it “odd” how this was the only response that they had to the indictment. She added that the Republicans refused to actually read the indictment or try to respond to the facts of the case.

On Tuesday, Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 federal felony counts resulting from Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified documents. The indictment points out that Trump had retained sensitive government documents which he had refused to return to the federal government. Some of the documents in Trump’s possession contained sensitive information about the country’s defense and weapon capabilities as well as its nuclear program.

Clinton stated in regard to the Republican reaction to the case that their actions are “profoundly disturbing” and that what the GOP is refusing to acknowledge is that this indictment is on “a track about” Trump.
