(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) argued that former President Donald Trump was politically stronger following his federal indictment over allegedly mishandling sensitive presidential records.

In an interview with host George Stephanopoulos on ABC’s “This Week” Graham stated that while he knew that they did not fully understand what he was saying, this is what people on his side believe. He added that in his opinion Trump was “stronger today politically” than he had been before and that the espionage charges in particular “are ridiculous.”

On Thursday, Trump was indicted on 37 counts connected to a probe into his alleged mishandling of classified documents. Of the 37 counts, 31 counts relate to the Espionage Act. On Sunday, Graham stated that most Republicans think that the legal system is being weaponized against Trump. He added that the espionage charges specifically are “completely wrong.”

He proceeded to state that most people consider the case of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server to be similar to Trump’s case and that Clinton had managed to get away with it without anything happening. He added that Trump is going to “have his day in court.” He further noted that people were more stressed about Hunter Biden’s laptop than about Trump.

Finally, Graham concluded by stating that Trump had not committed espionage and that he had not provided foreign powers or news organizations information that could harm the country, and that while he might have done something wrong that would be decided on the trial. He added that Trump was not a spy and that he is overcharged in this case.
