(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Following former president Donald Trump’s win in the Iowa caucuses, California Gov. Gavin Newsom fundraised for the Democratic National Committee (DNC) stating that it was “terrifying” to consider the possibility of Trump returning to the White House.

In a campaign email, Newsom stated that on Monday Trump had won the Iowa caucus which brought him one step closer to becoming his party’s nominee. He added that this also meant that he was potentially closer to returning to the Oval Office which was a “terrifying” prospect.

He called for the recipients of the email to also think back to how they had felt when Trump had beat Hillary Clinton in 2016, and the relief they had felt when it became clear that the 2020 election had been won by President Biden. He then added that it was up to everyone to do their part in order for them to feel this kind of relief again.

Trump had come first in the Iowa caucus with 51 percent of the vote, while Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis had received around 21 percent of the vote. In third place was former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley with approximately 19 percent, while in fourth place was entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy with 7 percent. Shortly after his loss in the race, Ramaswamy announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Trump.

Much like Newsom, President Biden also used Trump’s landslide victory to fundraise for his campaign. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter he had called for people to donate to his campaign following Trump’s win in the caucuses.
