(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) alleged that former President Donald Trump was trying to convert the presidency into a “moneymaking enterprise.” These latest accusations come after the House Democrats found that during his time in the White House Trump had taken around $8 million from foreign governments.

During the interview, Raskin said on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” that Trump had done something that no other President had ever done by attempting to convert the White House into a business.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee’s top Democrat argued that he had not yet received a report from Trump or his legal team following the letter he had sent on Friday demanding that Trump return the approximately $8 million that he had received from foreign governments during his time in office.

Raskin’s letter came after the House Oversight Committee Democrats published a report in which they claimed that the former President’s companies had received money from foreign entities in 20 different countries which they argue is in violation of the Constitution’s Emolument Clause. According to the report, around $5.6 million had come from China and had gone to Trump hotels in Las Vegas and Washington, as well as his New York Trump Tower.

Raskin also alleged that the $7.8 million figure only represented a fraction of the amounts that Trump was likely to have made during his time in the White House. Raskin further claimed that Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), the committee’s chair, was stifling the investigation by taking the top spot.
