Former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who was in the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, has now launched a campaign ad in New Hampshire against former President Donald Trump. In the ad clips of the Capitol insurrection are playing as a voiceover from Cheney states that Trump has shown how unfit he is to serve in office. She further adds that Trump is the only U.S. President in history to have “refused to guarantee the peaceful transfer of power” following his election loss in 2020 against now-President Joe Biden.

She proceeds to state that following his loss, Trump chose to mobilize a mob of his supporters and have them march on the Capitol. Then he sat back as his supporters broke into the Capitol and searched for then-Vice President Mike Pence.

According to an NBC News report, the ad titled “Risk” was released by Cheney’s The Great Task PAC and is going to be airing across New Hampshire ahead of Trump’s planned town hall on Wednesday.

Following Trump’s announcement in November of 2022 that he would be trying to win back the White House there were speculations about Cheney potentially joining the presidential race. However, she has not yet made any announcements regarding the possibility of placing a bid on the White House. In the recent midterm elections, she was also ousted from her position as the No.3 House Republican following her opposition to Trump’s election claims. She later lost her state’s primary to Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-Wyo.) who was endorsed by Trump.
