(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Census data has shown that Generation Z is going to be the last generation that will have a white majority in America. Since Generation Alpha, which started in 2010, the nation has had what is known as a majority-minority.
By 2045 it is estimated that non-Hispanic white people are going to make up less than half of the U.S. population. However, despite these statistics, there are scholars who have argued that the statistics are wrong and that they can be misleading.
Many demographers are celebrating the increased diversity in the country which is seen as an important aspect of future prosperity. However, others have expressed concerns over the racial change in America which could threaten the white heritage in America.
University of Southern California professor of policy, planning, and demography, Dowell Myers has argued that “Race is the most complicated variable in the census.” Despite this, it is the one that draws the most attention.
The 2020 census generational data has shown that there is a difference in racial diversity levels by age group. While 77 percent of those over the age of 75 are non-Hispanic white people, that percentage lowers with every generation. Of those between the ages of 55 and 64, only 67 percent are white, from those in the 35-44 age group 55 percent are white, while close to half of those in the 18 to 24 age group are White.
This means that the difference in the levels of diversity is going to vary in different generations and that there will be no racial group in the U.S. that is going to have the numerical majority.
