(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Texas Governor Greg Abbott, a Republican, has stated that Texas is ready for the highly improbable scenario where President Biden might federalize the National Guard amid escalating tensions at the southern border.

In a conversation with Tucker Carlson on his show “Uncensored,” Abbott expressed his disbelief at such a possibility, labeling it as a misguided action by Biden. “I would find it surprising and consider it a significant misstep on his part,” Abbott remarked to Carlson.

Abbott reassured that Texas has plans in place to continue its current border security measures, including the construction of barriers, even if the federal government were to take control of the National Guard. “We have preparations in place to ensure our ongoing border security activities remain unaffected in such an unlikely situation,” he stated.

Despite a Supreme Court ruling that authorized the removal of razor wire barriers, Texas National Guard units proceeded with their construction along the border this week. Abbott defended these actions, criticizing President Biden for his handling of immigration enforcement.

The governor invoked the constitutional right of states to protect themselves against what he describes as an invasion, referring to the increasing number of migrants at the border. Abbott’s stance has garnered support from Republican governors across various states.

In his discussion with Carlson, Abbott mentioned that Texas has mobilized the Texas Department of Public Safety along with other law enforcement entities and National Guard units from different states to bolster border security. He emphasized the benefit of having additional support.

Abbott also noted that he has not directly communicated with President Biden about the border situation but has previously sent the administration detailed proposals for immediate solutions that wouldn’t necessitate new legislation.

Abbott expressed that he would be both surprised and let down if the states that promised to support Texas fail to deploy their National Guard units. “These states are united with us in a crucial battle for America’s future, and I trust they will fully participate in this effort,” he stated.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and former President Donald Trump have both pledged their support for Governor Abbott as he faces this emerging challenge at the U.S.-Mexico border.
