(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, during an interview on NBC News’s “Meet the Press,” Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) argued that the only Republican candidate who had a chance in defeating former President Donald Trump in the GOP 2024 primary race was former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley. However, despite this statement, he refused to endorse any of the candidates specifically.

He argued that the reason he would not be endorsing any of the candidates, is that being endorsed by him would essentially equal the “kiss of death.” This is something he argued he was unwilling to do. He proceeded to joke when being asked about endorsements and whether he should instead endorse the person he disliked the most.

Romney proceeded to state regarding the latest Republican primary debate that former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had a strong appearance but that it was clear he had no chance to win the necessary nomination, while Haley had the chance to do that.

Romney further pointed out that he had clearly stated before that he would not be endorsing Trump. However, he pointed out that Christie, while he had done a great job, was the reason that the former President kept coming up in the presidential debate. He added that if Christie was out of the debate then it would be likely that Trump would also not appear in the debate as often.

He added that the only one whose position was currently rising is Nikki Haley, who has said while it is still a long shot, has a chance to potentially win in the primary race against Trump. He argued that it remains to be seen whether or not he would be able to win.
