(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, CNN’s host Jim Acosta and Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., sparred over the possibility of a government shutdown and the border crisis.
In regards to the border crisis, Norman stated that CNN needed to report on what was happening at the border. During the discussion, Acosta questioned how the Republicans were intending to secure the U.S. border in case of a government shutdown.
In response, the Republican lawmaker argued that they would need to use force and that the public would need to push the Biden administration to allow border patrol agents to conduct their tasks, build a wall, and create points of entry. These are things that the administration is intentionally not allowing right now, according to Norman. The congressman further argued that everything the administration was currently doing they were doing for power. He proceeded to question why they were giving migrants driver’s licenses and Social Security numbers.
Acosta however said that proof was needed to support this argument, which to him sounded more like rhetoric.
Norman proceeded to ask Acost whether he had ever visited the border. Acosta replied that he had which prompted Norman to continue by saying that he had then seen everything going on including how the border was open and the “rapes” that were occurring. Acosta then said that the border was not open and that there were walls, fences, and border patrol agents who were working at the U.S. border.
The congressman however maintained that the border patrol agents were frustrated by the situation.
