(TruthAndLiberty.com) – A small number of former Trump administration officials and GOP members have come out in support of President Biden instead of former President Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. All of them have argued that Trump could be a threat to the country’s democracy.

Trump’s 2020 campaign former press aide Sarah Matthews, who resigned from the Trump administration on Jan. 6, 2021, argued that in her entire life, she had never voted for a Democrat, but that in this case, she would back Biden over Trump if Trump ends up being the party’s nominee. She added that she would not support someone who had attempted to block the peaceful transfer of power and had attempted to overthrow the results of a fair election by inciting a mob of his supporters to march toward the United States Capitol.

Many former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley supporters in the 2024 presidential election, who voted for her in the Iowa caucuses have also pointed out that if the general election ends up being a race between Trump and Biden they would be supporting Biden. This willingness of many Republicans to vote for their opposing party could end up acting as a key factor in the November election.

The Decision Desk HQ average of national polling has shown that currently in a hypothetical match-up between Trump and Biden, Trump would win the race by around 1 percentage point. However, the polling in several swing states has shown that Trump is leading the races in both Georgia and Michigan by 8 points, while Biden is only leading by a narrow margin in Pennsylvania. Strategists have argued that the November election could depend on which of the candidates manages to get their base out to vote more, as there does not appear to be many voters who are open to being moved to either side.
