Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley has vowed to stop all U.S. aid going to countries that “hate us” if she wins the White House.

On Friday, in an op-ed in the New York Post, Haley noted that taxpayers had a right to know which countries were receiving U.S. foreign aid. She continued by saying that most people would be surprised to learn of the “anti-American”  countries that were receiving aid.

According to Haley’s accusations, the United States had provided Iraq with over $1 billion in aid. She continued to say that this led to more ties with “murderous thugs” in Iraq where there were chants of “Death to America.” In recent years Iraq and Iran’s relations have become better.

Other counties that have received U.S. aid according to Haley include Pakistan and China.  She wrote in the op-ed that this was not solely Joe Biden’s doing and instead that presidents who belonged to both parties have previously followed these foreign aid policies. He added that this financial aid is for the most part operating “on autopilot” and there is not a lot of consideration being given to which countries should be eligible to receive U.S. aid.

She continued that if she were to become the President she would focus on how to “restore our national strength” and that American allies, including Israel and Ukraine, should be receiving aid but there are other countries that the U.S. should refrain from having a relationship with.
