(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., attacked the Department of Justice over the new indictment against former President Donald Trump arguing that the indictment was just meant to act as a distraction from the information regarding President Biden and his involvement in Hunter Biden’s business activities.
McCarthy in a tweet reiterated many of the points that GOP lawmakers have been making during their probe into the business activities of the Biden family. As he pointed out a new poll that came out had clearly shown that Trump was the leading opponent that Biden is facing in the presidential election. He added that the Department of Justice was trying to draw attention away from that news and instead attack Trump who is the frontrunner in the GOP primary.
While the Speaker did comment on both Biden and the Department of Justice he abstained from making any specific points about the four counts that have been brought against Trump. These include the following four charges: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of an attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights.
These charges have been heavily criticized by many GOP lawmakers who have also pointed out that the indictment took place exactly one day after Devon Archer, a Hunter Biden associate, had a closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee. During the testimony, it is expected that Archer had said that Biden would often have his father on speakerphone while holding meetings with his different business partners.
