(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas during an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” slammed Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s (R) over his recent remarks about how new legislation was not necessary for President Joe Biden to enforce new border policies.

Mayorkas argued that Abbott “couldn’t be more wrong” with his statement. As he pointed out Trump had attempted to close the border and all he managed to achieve was to have his efforts blocked by courts not allowing his policies to be enforced. He added that these claims were coming from someone who has refused to coordinate and collaborate with any other officials and has instead opted to cause chaos in cities across the United States. He argued that this was not a proper “model of governance” and that there was no way that Abbott’s claims could be “more wrong.”

This week, Mayorkas and Biden visited the United States border in Texas. Simultaneously Abbott along with former President Donald Trump had visited another part of the state’s border. Both Biden and Trump are expected to be the two nominees for the 2024 presidential election. In the past few weeks, both men have argued that they would be fixing the issue with the U.S. border if they win a second term in the White House.

Dana Bash, a CNN co-anchor, had asked Mayorkas whether he had responded to Abbott’s remarks from last week’s appearance on “State of the Union” when he had answered that Biden was not taking advantage of his executive authority to do things that had already received congressional approval. He had also claimed that there was no need for new laws but rather that Biden needed to have a backbone.
