(TruthAndLiberty.com) – The Global Times, a Chinese state-run newspaper, released an editorial in defense of President Joe Biden after the House Republicans formalized the impeachment inquiry. The recent vote in the House formalizing the inquiry comes after months of investigations into Joe Biden and his role in his son’s, Hunter Biden, business activities with Ukraine and China.
The investigations are predominantly focused on the extent to which Hunter Biden might have used his father’s influence during his time serving as the vice President in the Obama administration. However, so far, the House GOP has failed to find any concrete evidence of wrongdoing connecting Hunter Biden’s business to his father. Still, the Republicans have maintained that the impeachment inquiry is important as it will allow them to have more investigative authority in enforcing subpoenas.
The Democrats have maintained that the investigation against President Biden is just meant to be payback for the two impeachments of former President Donald Trump.
The editorial in the Global Times reflected the official positions of the Chinese government and stated that the impeachment inquiry was a reflection of the polarization and veto politics that prevailed in the United States. In defense of Biden, it further states that the GOP had retaliated against the President ahead of the 2024 presidential election. As it read, the Republican party was working to completely undermine their opposition and destroy Biden’s political standing. This is meant to help the GOP gain an advantage during the congressional and presidential elections.
