(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Many Democrats have been warning moderate Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., that a third-party nomination could have bad effects on President Biden’s reelection bid and could result in former President Donald Trump winning the White House again.

Manchin, who originally started off as one of the party’s moderates has become increasingly more progressive under President Biden. It has also been speculated that he might be considering a presidential campaign as an independent.

In a recent announcement, he noted that he would not be seeking another term in his state.

Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich., told the Hill regarding a possible candidate of Manchin that it would be “very unfortunate” if he decided on a third-party nomination. She added that she knew Manchin supported Biden and that during his time in the Senate, he had been an important figure in helping get things done. She added that he knows that if he were to join the presidential race it would make it easier for former President Trump to win back the White House, which is something that Manchin would not support.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., similarly told the Hill that should Manchin join the race he would be disappointed. He added that Manchin was a Democrat who believed in the principles of the party and that he was disappointed that they were even making references to a possible run from Manchin as it would hurt Biden’s chances.

However, Manchin previously disagreed with that perspective, pointing out that a three-way election, like the one in 1992 was possible.
