The White House has blamed the GOP for the lack of action in Congress for gun control. They have now increased the pressure on the GOP to take action to curb gun violence, claiming that voters are tired of America’s epidemic of mass shootings.

On Monday a school shooting in Nashville left 6 killed. Following the incident, President Biden has renewed his calls for gun control and has called on lawmakers to take action as the majority of Americans are against assault weapons and believe that having one is “bizarre.” He continued by claiming that there was nothing that he could do other than “plead with Congress to act reasonably.”

The shooting on Monday took place at a private Christian elementary school in a Nashville neighborhood. The 28-year-old suspect was armed with three guns, two of which were assault-type weapons, and with them shot and killed three 9-year-old children and three adults before being shot and killed by the police.

On Tuesday, Biden said that the Republicans have repeatedly stood against the idea of an assault weapons ban. He added that the reason he was mentioning it was that he wanted people to
“know who isn’t doing it, who isn’t helping. Put pressure on them.” He finally added that there was “a moral price to pay for inaction.”

Republicans have repeatedly used the Second Amendment as a defense against their position.
