(TruthAndLiberty.com) – In the wake of the string of shootings that took place right before the Fourth of July, President Biden is urging GOP legislators to consider rational gun control measures. The President’s plea was delivered on Tuesday, in the aftermath of several violent events that claimed 11 lives.

The incident on Monday night in Fort Worth, Texas, led to the death of three individuals and left eight others injured. Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, a shooting on the same night claimed five lives, leaving two children wounded. A shooting at a Baltimore neighborhood gathering the preceding Sunday took two lives and injured 28 people.

In his message, President Biden, along with the First Lady, expressed deep sorrow for the lives lost before the nation’s Independence Day festivities. He voiced his hope for a time when communities are free from the plague of gun violence.

The President acknowledged the one-year anniversary of a tragic shooting that took place on Fourth of July in Highland Park, Illinois, in his address. That incident had resulted in seven fatalities and several injuries during the parade. Following the calamity, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D), Highland Park Mayor Nancy Rotering (D), along with other lawmakers and activists, initiated a ban on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines within the state, a step the President recognized.

President Biden emphasized that while these regulatory changes don’t alleviate the pain of loss, they hold significance as potential life-savers. He also highlighted the disturbing revelation of how deeply the gun violence crisis is impacting communities nationwide over the past several days.
