(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Gal Luft’s, a think tank leader, recent indictment has led to heated discussions about the politicization of the Department of Justice as many Republicans claim that the allegations of him acting as an unregistered agent of China are evidence of the weaponization of the government.

Luft, who is the co-director of Analysis of Global Security, had allegedly recruited and paid a ranking U.S. official on behalf of China in 2016. However, he had not registered as a foreign agent as is the requirement by U.S. law. This is not the only charge being brought against him, as he is also facing arm trafficking and sanction violations after he was accused of having tried to broker an illegal arms deal.

Only a week before his arrest, Luft had stated in a video that was released by the New York Post that he was being arrested because they were trying to block him from testifying before the House Oversight Committee about the Biden family’s business activities. He further alleged that in 2019 he had brought forward information about the Biden family to the FBI and Department of Justice, but that his allegations had been covered up.

The Oversight and Accountability Committee chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) argued that Luft was a “very credible witness.” Many other Republicans have also pointed out that Luft was one of the whistleblowers in the case surrounding Hunter Biden’s laptop.

Comer also requested from FBI Director Christopher Wray an unredacted copy of the report that was filed following Luft’s alleged meeting with the FBI in March 2019 where he had expressed his allegations against the Biden family.
