(TruthAndLiberty.com) – The White House recently warned the House GOP that it was likely that launching an impeachment inquiry into President Biden would backfire and hurt their fractured conference even further. Still, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) has recently repeatedly signaled that his conference was considering launching an investigation once they returned to Congress in September.
The House Republicans have placed a lot of their focus on the corruption allegations against President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his foreign business activities. They further accuse Hunter Biden of having used his father’s political influence in order to gain access to businesses in Ukraine.
Conservative media have also been using the Biden corruption allegations in the context of the recent federal indictment against former President Trump. The cases against Trump have resulted in many Republicans wanting to fight President Biden over Trump’s cases which are viewed as politically motivated.
However, the White House has maintained that even if the House Republicans pursued further investigations into the Biden family and their finances, the probe would cause more harm to the GOP than Biden.
Ian Sams, a White House spokesperson argued that the “baseless impeachment” was going to hurt the GOP. As he pointed out this is also obvious from the number of congressional Republicans who have admitted that they did not have evidence against Trump and that this partisan stunt was going to backfire.
Throughout the summer, McCarthy repeatedly brought forward the possibility of an impeachment inquiry after Congress returns in the fall. However, aides have pointed out that certain lawmakers including Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) have argued that concrete evidence was necessary before an inquiry is launched. Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick (R-Pa.), has also expressed concerns arguing that he did not want to see the country follow the path that the British Parliament has followed.
