(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Friday, Former President Donald Trump praised House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for releasing all the footage taken during the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack.

Johnson has announced that the first 90 hours of the roughly 44,000 hours of footage from the day of the protest had already been made available online and that slowly all of the footage would be released online over the coming weeks.

Trump congratulated the House Speaker for releasing the tapes from that day so that people could see what actually occurred on that day.

Johnson also pointed out that private citizens’ faces were going to be blurred in order to avoid having anyone be targeted in retaliation over what had occurred. There would also be around 5 percent of the footage that would be redacted due to the security interests of the Capitol.

Many GOP members have continued to argue that the events of Jan. 6 were exaggerated and have been calling for the tapes from the attack to be released. However, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., decided to not make the tapes available widely and only provided access to them to a small circle.

This month Trump started to refer to those who were imprisoned over their participation in the Jan. 6 events as “hostages.” He stated that if he is reelected he would consider pardoning some of the convictions. Earlier this year he also released a song called “Justice for All” which features convicts from the Capitol attack, whom Trump has called the J6 Prison Chair.
