(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) during an appearance on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo argued that whoever became the next GOP Senate leader would need to work well with former President Donald Trump.

Bartiromo specifically asked Scott who he would like to see taking over the party’s leadership in the upper chamber. This question comes after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) announced that he would be resigning from his leadership position next November.

Scott in response argued that he would like the next Senate leader to be someone who was willing to collaborate and “work hand in glove” with Trump. He added that they needed to have a majority of GOP members in the state who understood how putting America first was interconnected with working with the former President.

After Scott withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, he became an important surrogate for Trump. Scott has officially endorsed Trump in the state, while it is also speculated that the former President might select Scott as his running mate.

Scott has argued that currently, the priority should be to close the U.S.-Mexico border and that after that they should consider tax cuts that would allow more money to return to America. He added that once they have done so they will be able to focus on getting crime under control.

As he noted this was about understanding that Trump would assist the country towards a brighter future. He added that they needed to have a new majority leader who would be willing to “work hand in glove” with the former President.
