Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), the ranking member on the Senate Judiciary Committee, has warned Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) that a potential former President Donald Trump’s arrest could “blow up our country.”

During an interview on “Fox & Friends,” Graham proceeded to say that “this is a bunch of B.S.” As he noted the case had previously been examined by the prosecutor before Bragg, Cyrus Vance Jr. who had dismissed the case. The U.S. attorney in New York had also stated that he would not look at the case “federally.” These references made by Graham were meant to help establish that other prosecutors had not been interested in charging Trump in connection to the alleged $130,000 payment made on his behalf by Michael Cohen to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election.

Graham added that Bragg is facing political pressure to prosecute the case because his predecessor has been criticized by former prosecutor Mark Pomerantz who had previously overseen the district attorney’s office during the earlier investigation of Trump.

Graham further noted that the only other change is that currently Trump is running for office again. He added that there was also someone in the DA’s office who had been critical of Vance for failing to prosecute Trump, which is now a pressure that Bragg is feeling. Graham also blasted Bragg for being a  “George Soros-backed prosecutor.” Color of Change PAC, which had previously received a hefty donation from Soros, had supported the district attorney’s 2021 campaign.
