(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Hillary Clinton slammed former President Donald Trump over his recent suggestions that he believed he could appear in the middle on the abortion issue. Trump also alleged that this was a position also supported by his 2024 presidential campaign.
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Clinton questioned whether Trump believed that this was something women would “fall for.”
Trump was instrumental in the appointment of three conservative justices to the Supreme Court, which played a big role in the decision of the Supreme Court to overturn the Roe v. Wade ruling in 2022. After the ruling was overturned, abortion access was no longer protected across the United States.
On Sunday, Rolling Stone published a story in which they discussed the Trump campaign’s plans to present Trump as the middle ground on the abortion issue in a way that would allow him to win the support of both parties. In the piece, it was argued that Trump was under the impression that he could run on the abortion issue as a moderate.
Following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Republican party has struggled with navigating this issue, leading to a number of wins for the Democrats across the nation in previous elections.
Many Republicans, including Sen. Tim Scott (S.C.), who has now dropped out of the 2024 presidential race, have pushed for a national restriction to be placed on abortion. However, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, whose campaign in the 2024 presidential race has been gaining a lot of momentum in recent months has argued that the party should not push for unrealistic proposals that are going to lead people to not vote for them.
