(TruthandLiberty.com) – Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg remarked that he was not certain if he would be running for office again. This comment had come in response to a question during his appearance on Axios’ What’s Next Summit in Washington, D.C. when he had been asked about whether or not he was planning on joining the gubernatorial race in Michigan after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s term came to an end.

Buttigieg told Axios’ co-founder Mike Allen that he did not know if he would ever be running for office again but that he did care a lot about the state and its future. He added that he has married into the state and that he believes Gretchen was doing a really great job as the governor.

In 2022 Buttigieg had moved his residency from Indiana to Michigan as he had moved to Traverse City to be closer to his in-laws.

On Tuesday he argued that the move to Michigan had been a choice they had made because it was the correct thing for their family. He added that anyone with a toddler knew how important it was to have grandparents close by which is what they managed to get with this move. He added that while he does not mean to dodge, this job took around 110 percent of his attention and intellect.

Whitmer was first elected in 2019 and was reelected in 2022. Her term is limited.

Buttigieg had been asked last year whether he was considering running for the open Senate seat in Michigan, to which he had argued that he did not because of his current position in the federal government.
