(TruthAndLiberty.com) – During a sit-down interview with MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, President Biden stated that he was sorry for having used the word “illegal” in reference to the murder suspect in the case of nursing student Laken Riley.

This is the second time that Biden has sat down for an interview with Capehart. It is not common for any reporter to have multiple sit-downs with the President. Capehart’s first interview with Biden had been in October 2022.

Capehart specifically asked the President about his description of the alleged murderer during the State of the Union address as “illegal.” The address had occurred on Thursday.

Biden responded by arguing that he should not have used the term illegal and that instead he should have referred to him as “undocumented.” He added that when he had referred to the difference between him and former President Donald Trump he had referred to how Trump had talked about the U.S. border referring to “vermin” who were “polluting the blood” of the country. He proceeded to note that this was not something that he was going to do and that he would not be disrespecting these people as they had helped build the country. He added that this was the reason that the country was growing.

Biden also pointed out that he regretted the words that he had chosen.

Biden while delivering the State of the Union address had an off-the-prompter moment where he had talked about Ibarra as “illegal.” Following the statement, Democrats had also criticized him for the term.
