On Wednesday, Former President Trump once again reiterated that it was thanks to him that Roe v. Wade was overturned. In a recent Truth Social Post Trump took credit for the restrictive abortion laws that passed following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. He proceeded to argue that because of him the anti-abortion movement was in a very “strong negotiating position.”

He then added that had it not been for him there would have never been abortion bans at 6, 10, or 15 weeks and that the Pro-Life movement would have continued losing.

The comments are likely going to be used by Democrats in future campaign ads, as abortion access appears to be one of the major concerns for voters. The topic has been at the forefront of voters’ minds ever since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade last June, stripping all the protections that the landmark case previously provided.

Trump nominated three of the conservative justices currently sitting in the Supreme Court, who contributed to the end of Roe v. Wade. These are Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett.

But Trump fired back Tuesday night on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight” and echoed his remarks in a Truth Social post-Wednesday morning: You are welcome for his administration breaking down the Roe v. Wade barrier.

He proceeded to comment on Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ six-week abortion restriction by pointing out that many people disagree with the ban. He added that DeSantis was losing many of the female voters. Trump stated that the reason that was not the case with him is because he was not exclusively focused on women or men, but rather he was focused on doing what was right which is why he is leading in the 2024 GOP primary race by “40-50 points.”
