(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Republican National Committee (RNC) chairwoman Ronna McDaniel stated on Sunday that she was still hoping that former President Donald Trump was going to attend the first Republican primary debate which is scheduled to take place this week. Trump has stated that he is not planning on attending the debate.

In an interview on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” McDaniel argued that she was “still holding out hope” that Trump was going to attend the debate, arguing that it is crucial that the American people get the chance to hear from all the candidates.

According to a report from The New York Times, Trump is planning to have an interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson instead of attending the first GOP primary debate on Wednesday. For weeks many people had speculated whether or not Trump would attend, especially as the former President had repeatedly claimed that he had no reason to attend the debate in Milwaukee because of his big lead in the Republican primary polls.

The Times in their report noted that McDaniel had also repeatedly called for Trump to join the presidential debate, however, Trump has not indicated that he had any plans of joining the debate.

Former Vice President Mike Pence, who is one of the presidential candidates to have called for Trump to join the debate stated during an appearance on ABC’s “This Week” that he was hoping to see Trump join the debate and that nothing was “over until it’s over.”

McDaniel has also stated that the upcoming Republican debate was going to be an opportunity for the Republicans to show what they can do versus what failures are occurring under President Biden.
