(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Murder victim Ruby Garcia’s family expressed disbelief at former President Donald Trump’s claim during a campaign appearance in Michigan that he had spoken to them.

The victim’s sister Mavi Garcia told Nexstar’s WOOD that Trump had not spoken with any of them and that it had been shocking to see him misinforming people by claiming that they had spoken.

Mavi Garcia, who is also acting as the family’s spokesperson argued that neither Trump nor any of his campaign team members had tried to contact her immediate family and that if such contact had happened, she would have been aware of it.

As she stated it was shocking seeing Trump make such a statement and after his assertion she had stopped watching because of the misinformation.

On Tuesday Trump’s speech was predominantly focused on immigration. There were also references to the March 22 murder of Ruby Garcia, 25. According to the court record Brandon Ortiz-Vite, who has already confessed to the murder and has admitted that he dumped the woman along US-131 in Grand Rapids, had entered the United States illegally.

The police have claimed that the two had been a couple, while Garcia’s sister maintained that the two were friends and that their relationship had not progressed that far. She added that she had known Ortiz-Vite was in the country illegally but had not known the case details.

Mavi Garcia told the media that the man should have stayed in Mexico. While she has spoken with the media, Garcia’s family has requested privacy, including on the day of the funeral.
