(TruthAndLiberty.com) – On Sunday, Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) suggested that former President Donald Trump should no longer take part in the presidential race.

During an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” when he had been asked about Trump potentially dropping out, Cassidy had said that while it was up to Trump to decide what he would do, he believed that he should drop out. He added that when it comes to his opinion the polls have clearly shown that Trump would lose to President Biden if the two face off in the upcoming election.

Cassidy further argued that all the Republicans who were going to be participating in the primary debate in Milwaukee are going to be better than Biden, which is why he would like to see one of them win. However, if Trump wins the Republican nomination but is unable to win the general election then all that would mean is that for four more years, they are going to have policies that are going to harm the future of the country.

Cassidy was one of the few Republicans to vote in favor of Trump getting impeached in his second impeachment trial. He has also argued that he does not think American voters were going to vote for a convicted felon and that the legal cases against Trump appear to be a “slam dunk.” As he has pointed out, if it is proven that Trump has committed any of these crimes, then they might end up with a presidential nominee who is convicted.
