(TruthAndLiberty.com) – According to a report by The New York Times, as tensions rise over the possibility of losing the White House to Donald Trump, former President Barack Obama is increasingly engaging in strategic discussions with President Joe Biden. Obama, actively participating in political strategizing, has been in regular contact not only with Biden but also with White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients and senior campaign advisors for Biden.

This development comes as Obama, Biden, and former President Bill Clinton are set to join forces at a significant fundraising event at Radio City Music Hall in New York. Despite Obama’s historical reservations about Biden’s viability as a candidate against Trump, their collaboration has deepened over time. Initially, Obama had reservations about Biden running for president, particularly during the period following the death of Biden’s son, Beau, in 2015. At that time, Obama perceived Hillary Clinton as the stronger candidate against Trump, a viewpoint that has influenced the dynamics within the Democratic Party.

Obama’s support for Biden was cautious, even during the 2019 presidential campaign, where he refrained from endorsing Biden until after the Democratic primaries. Nevertheless, the professional relationship between Obama and Biden has been substantial, marked by Biden’s influential role in advocating Obama’s legislative priorities, such as the Affordable Care Act, on Capitol Hill.

Despite their close working relationship, there were instances of disagreement, notably regarding the U.S. military strategy in Afghanistan. Their bond, however, grew stronger, particularly after the death of Beau Biden, fostering a more familial connection between the two leaders.

The narrative around the Biden-Obama relationship is evolving, with current White House insiders recognizing the critical imperative for Biden to triumph over Trump in the forthcoming electoral contest. This shift is reflected in the positive reception of Biden’s State of the Union address, which has somewhat alleviated concerns among Obama’s allies about Biden’s electoral prospects.
