On Tuesday, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley’s campaign attacked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis by stating that he was like former President Donald Trump but lacked the charm that Trump has.

This comment was written by Betsy Ankney, Haley’s campaign manager in a memo sent to allies and campaign surrogates and was first reported by Politico Playbook. In the memo, Ankey points out that while DeSantis does not turn to Twitter to attack others in the way Trump does, his “leadership style” has made it clear that he is just going to cause more drama.

Ankey’s memo makes one thing clear about the way that other presidential candidates are going to handle DeSantis who has not yet launched his presidential campaign. The attacks that he is going to face are all going to target the fact that he is not actually a better version of Trump. As Ankey pointed out during DeSantis’ time in office there have been “Leaks, abuse of power, drama, and petty political fights.” She added that anyone who noticed would have considered these headlines to resemble the ones of the Trump administration. She proceeded to state that those who are critical of Trump have taken note of that, but that the DeSantis campaign was far more disorganized than Trump’s campaign was.

Finally, in the memo, she pointed out that the GOP presidential field will have largely been formed by next month and added that the people are looking for a candidate who will be able to move past the petty drama and instead give the Republicans a chance to win back the White House against President Biden.
