On Monday, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade said that it was “insane” for former President Trump to start his first official 2024 rally with the national anthem being sung by Jan. 6 rioters who have been incarcerated while also featuring footage from the Jan. 6, Capitol attack.

During a segment on “Fox & Friends” Kilmeade criticized Trump for choosing to feature the Jan. 6 rioters, especially as he has a number of open probes currently looking into his involvement and role in the attack, among other issues.

He added that it is “insane” for him to have started with that video and that Trump should in fact be trying to hide and run away from that time period. He stated that there is no way in which featuring this was a positive thing for Trump.

Kilmeade further noted that while Trump might be leading in the polls he doubted that this opening to his rally would be a winner.

Trump opened his first official rally for his 2024 presidential election with a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” sung by inmates incarcerated over their involvement in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol Attack. Kilmeade proceeded to state that he believed that Trump spends “80 percent of his time complaining about court cases” instead of just looking at his “own record.”

Trump is currently facing a number of investigations and in recent weeks it has been speculated that he might be facing indictment in connection to a Manhattan probe into the hush money payment made to an adult film star. He also has a federal probe looking into his attempts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.
