(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in an interview on Monday dismissed the claims made by former President Donald Trump that he had been the 2020 presidential election winner, by arguing that he had “of course” not won the election.

The interview which is scheduled to air on Monday at “NBC Nightly News” had NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns asking DeSantis, who is one of the 2024 Republican presidential candidates, whether he thought that Trump had won the presidential election in 2020. In response, DeSantis said that he had lost which is why Joe Biden is the U.S. president.

Last week Trump was indicted over his efforts to stay in the White House after losing the 2020 presidential election and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack. In the 45-page indictment, special counsel Jack Smith claims that following the election Trump had run a campaign of “dishonest, fraud and conceit” as he was trying to block one of the important functions of democracy.

DeSantis once again also reiterated something he had mentioned during a campaign event in Iowa where he had argued that the claims about widespread fraud in the 2020 election had no evidence supporting their validity.

However, he did mention some of the problems that he had noticed relating to the 2020 presidential election which resulted in how mail-in ballots were used, and the possibility for third parties to collect and return the ballots of other voters.

He proceeded to refer to the story about Hunter Biden’s laptop, adding that this was not a good election and that the Republicans needed to fight back more.
