(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Recently, former President Donald Trump filed a lawsuit against New York Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the hush money case against him. This has been perceived as a last-minute attempt by the Trump legal team to delay the trial which is scheduled to start next week.

The gag order issued by Merchan blocks Trump from attacking any court staff, prosecutors, potential witnesses, and the family members of the judge. However, it does not block Trump from issuing any attacks against Merchan or Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D).

While the lawsuit documents filed by Trump have been placed under seal it is widely reported that they relate to the gag order.

Merchan has previously cited Trump’s attack record against those who are involved in the legal cases against him. At first, the judge had refrained from issuing a gag order and had instead preferred to admonish Trump.

Last month Bragg’s office had requested that Merchan gag Trump, which the judge agreed to do. Following a series of posts made by Trump against the judge’s daughter, Merchan also agreed to have the gag order expanded to protect the family members of those involved in the case.

Loren Merchan, the judge’s daughter, works as an executive at progressive political consulting firm Authentic, which is a digital agency. Among the company’s clientele are Vice President Kamala Harris, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), and President Joe Biden. Previously Trump had referenced Loren Merchan as one of the reasons her father should recuse himself from the trial.
