Former President Trump started a media storm this past weekend after claiming that he was going to be arrested in connection to the hush payment probe on Tuesday. However, so far there has not been an indictment made against him in the Manhattan investigation. This has led to an increase in the questions regarding whether or not Trump would end up being indicted in connection to this case.
On Wednesday it was reported that the grand jury hearing evidence was not going to convene as scheduled on Wednesday. This meant that the earliest possible day for an indictment in the case would have been Thursday.
Fox News had also reported that there was going to be at least one more witness that would appear before the jury on Wednesday. The case being investigated relates to a hush money payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels prior to the 2016 presidential election in exchange for her silence over her alleged affair with Donald Trump.
On Thursday it was also reported that the grand jury was not going to be hearing evidence in Trump’s case on that day, which led to a further delay of a potential indictment until Monday. However, despite these delays, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D) has taken some important steps which show that he is nearing making a decision on whether or not to seek an indictment. So far, there has been no indication of what the DA’s plans are.
Noah Bookbinder, president of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, tweeted out that he did not understand why people were confused about a potential delay in the indictment as the DA had never claimed that he would be seeking an indictment on that day. He added that in high-profile cases like this, they will only make the final move when absolutely ready and not before that.
