According to an Axios report, former President Trump hosted a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, which was attended by white nationalist Nick Fuentes, and rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West.
Ye has noted that during the dinner Trump screamed at him after he asked to be his running mate in 2024. This week at his Mar-a-Lago property in Florida, Axios first reported on Friday. Ye also posted a video on Twitter, titled “Mar-a-Lago debrief” in which he said that “Trump is really impressed with Nick Fuentes”. He also added that Fuentes is a “loyalist” in contrast to many other people who left following the 2020 election.
The Justice Department has previously called Fuentes a white supremacist, as he frequently makes racist and antisemitic remarks, which follow the line of remarks that cast doubts about the Holocaust.
Earlier this year Ye also faced criticism for many of his antisemitic comments. Ye also ran for the White House in 2020 following a visit with Trump to the Oval Office.
In a statement released to Axios by Trump, he said that Ye was really wanting to visit his Mar-a-Lago estate. He also added that initially the dinner was only meant to include him and Ye, but Ye appeared with a plus one that Trump had never previously met or knew anything about. Trump also posted on his Truth Social Platform to reaffirm that he “didn’t know Nick Fuentes.”
Trump announced his third presidential bid earlier this month. So far, he is the only prominent GOP member to have formally announced his presidential campaign.
