Will the Dobbs Decision Affect Battle Ground Republican States

Supreme Court AFTERMATH – What To Expect On Election Day

(TruthandLiberty.com) – In the wake of the Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe v. Wade on Friday, June 24, Democrats began claiming the decision would help them retain their majorities in the House and Senate in November. While Democrats try to use abortion to overcome their strong negatives on illegal immigration, the economy, inflation, and high gas prices, Republicans are largely unfazed by the Democrats and left-wing media hysteria. Still, many want to know the consequences for the GOP this November, if any.

First, given that SCOTUS just released its ruling, and passions among activists on both sides are high, it’s early to predict how this might affect things more than four months from now. Will voters cast ballots for Democrats based on this single issue, or will the ruling affect only more nuanced battleground states? Most Americans said they opposed overturning Roe, but they appear to see the situation differently when gleaning the details.

On May 6, Pew Research released a detailed poll, which determined Americans don’t have an absolutist view on abortion. So, what does the data say, and how could it impact the November elections? Nearly one in five say all abortions should be legal, with no exceptions. Still, only 8% said it should be strictly illegal. Here’s the complexity for Democrats: 71% say it should be mostly legal or mostly illegal, with exceptions.

So, what will the fallout mean if much doesn’t change for the 71% in the middle? Several states will likely ban abortion, while many others won’t. Over the next few months, the issue could subside as Americans return to focusing on their financial situations. Will red states turn blue, or will purple districts turn less red?
