(TruthandLiberty.com) – ABC’s “The View” is no stranger to debate. Several progressive women and one conservative host the political debate talk show. On Monday, January 31, one of the hosts stepped into it more profoundly than anyone had before on the sometimes controversial show.
Award-winning actress and “The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg stated Adolf Hitler’s attempt to eradicate 6 million Jewish people wasn’t about race but inhumanity. While the Holocaust dehumanized many groups, Goldberg missed the target in her “woke” point, angering viewers.

On Monday evening, Goldberg, who’s black and part Jewish, doubled down on her assertion. She told Stephen Colbert Nazis had an issue with ethnicity, not race — defying thousands of years of persecution of the Jews faced as a race. Both Goldberg’s co-hosts on “The View” and Colbert tried to set the record straight, saying the Holocaust was indeed about trying to exterminate the Jewish race, in the Nazis’ own words.
On Tuesday morning, Goldberg profusely apologized for her statements and acknowledged she was wrong. Despite her apology, ABC News suspended the co-host for two weeks and asked her to use the time to reflect on what she said.
Almost immediately after Goldberg’s statement, prominent Jewish leaders and advocacy groups denounced Goldberg’s statement. The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) immediately took to Twitter to counter Whoopi Goldberg’s misinformation. After Goldberg released an apology statement on Twitter, the ADL thanked her for acknowledging the truth of the Holocaust.
