White House Threatens Top Republicans

On Wednesday, the White House slammed GOP Reps. James Comer (Ky.) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (Ga.) for what they referred to as “bizarre” congressional probes into President Biden and his family, and argued that the investigations were completely politically motivated.

White House spokesperson Ian Sams in a memo noted that Comer, who is the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, and other members of the committee have “aggressively” pursued politically motivated probes against Biden and his family, which are meant to hurt Biden personally rather than actually determine whether there was any wrongdoing. Sams proceeded to argue that even the Republicans had admitted that the probes were not legitimate and were rather politically motivated. He added that this “bizarre focus” on Biden and his family, many of whom are private citizens not involved with the White House in any way” is not about facts as they have not managed to find any evidence to support their allegations.

Earlier this month Comer and Republicans released a 36-page report detailing their investigation into the Biden family. In it, they allege that foreign entities had sent to companies associated with the Biden family more than $10 million. However, none of the money was seen going directly to President Biden.

Sam pointed out that during an interview on Fox News Comer stated that he was connecting the probe into the Biden family into the poll numbers which show former President Donald Trump improving his position in a hypothetical matchup against Biden in 2024. The two have for the past few months been at similar levels in the polls.
