(TruthAndLiberty.com) – Amy Cooper, known as “Central Park Karen” shared recently how the nickname has affected her. As she noted she had complete strangers texting her and calling for her to slit her wrists. Others would tell her that if there was one person who deserved “prison rape” it was her and that the best thing she could do was to completely remove herself from society.
Cooper shared that while the majority of people did not know her story, what they did know of her was a two-minute version of the story that was shared across the world without any context or important facts being shared. As she pointed out, everyone had believed the story that a white “Central Park Karen” had simply called the police on a Black man because of his skin color. However, she proceeded to argue that this was not the entire story.
As she shared on May 25, 2020, during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, she had taken her dog on a walk. While walking through Central Park she had allowed the dog to be off its leash, which is allowed. However, she ended up deciding to walk back to her home on a different unfamiliar path, which resulted in her ending up in the “Ramble” which is a secluded part of the park.
Only seconds after arriving there she heard a voice calling out to her stating that she should not be here. That was when Christian Cooper yelled: “If you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it” and proceeded to start recording her. This was something that Christian has admitted to saying.
As Amy Cooper shared she was a woman on her own in a secluded part of the park and when a man started threatening her she started to panic for her safety. She then stated that she was going to call the police and was planning on what she would tell them. This was when she made the call to the police and described the man who was harassing her.
