(TruthandLiberty.com) – Over the last month, Russia amassed approximately 100,000 soldiers along their border with Ukraine. The Russians say they’re responding to NATO’s diplomatic overtures to Ukraine and other former Soviet bloc countries to develop strategic relationships. President Vladimir Putin has said it’s unacceptable for NATO forces to be so close to Russia, and he’s explained how Russia views the European military alliance, headed by the United States, as a direct threat to its sovereignty.
The United States says it believes an invasion could happen at any moment, despite warning Putin the West will cripple Russia with sanctions unlike any the nation has previously seen if he proceeds. As the US military prepares for the likelihood of war, the US Embassy in Kyiv warned American citizens to leave immediately or plan accordingly because the government would not be able to evacuate them in a wartime situation. Additionally, the State Department warned US citizens not to travel by land from Russia to Ukraine.
